Brisbane is a vibrant modern city lived in by some very friendly people. Brisbane still has some of the "country hospitality" atmosphere absent in some other large cities. Brisbane enjoys an enviable reputation for fantastic weather most of the year round with mild winters and warm and sunny summers. To the north and south approx. 1-1.5 hour drive are popular international beach destinations namely The Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise, Indy) and The Sunshine Coast (Noosa) One of Brisbane's popular attractions is Southbank which is the old Expo site which has been redeveloped. This is now a very popular leisure and entertainment destination and includes a large convention center. Brisbane is fast becoming the "Silicon Valley" in Australia with more and more IT professionals finding employment in their fields here.
